About Us
Who We Are:
High Prairie Wilderness Camp is owned and operated by J2K Ministries. Our mission is to introduce young people to the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, encouraging them to explore their faith and grow closer to God.
The wilderness has always been a place where people can let down their walls, take time to reflect, and perhaps hear about God for the first time. Between time spent on horseback, chatting with our friendly, caring staff, or sitting around the campfire and learning new truths about Jesus, HPWC desires to show that God and the Bible are just as relevant today as ever before, presenting the most logical answers to some of life’s toughest and most puzzling questions.
Meet the Team:
High Prairie Wilderness Camp (HPWC) is operated by a local committee under the guidance of Executive Director Aaron Harbidge. The Executive Board for J2K Ministries manages both the legal and spiritual aspects of the camp program. To learn more about J2K Ministries, you can visit their website HERE. If you have any questions about the camp, feel free to contact Aaron Harbidge HERE; he is always delighted to discuss all things related to camp!
Our Story:
HPWC started as a vision many years ago. Aaron was working for a rancher (also a site director of a small trail-ride camp) north of Dawson Creek, BC, when a conversation started about starting a new camp location.
Fast forward to 2016 when, in partnership with the Sagitawa Christian Camping Society and Sagitawa Trail Rides, we held our first two 7-day camps in our current location near High Prairie, AB. The 10-day camp was added in 2017, and the rest is history! Hundreds of campers have passed through our program, many coming back year after year and introducing siblings and friends to the family-like, peaceful atmosphere that HPWC is known for.
Each summer up to 75 campers come and sleep in our tipis, play games, eat some of the best camp food known to mankind, ride horses, and hear about the love and forgiveness found only in Jesus Christ. Click HERE to read our full story!
